We are excited to share news of ShoMon Kappo Sushi, our new kappo sushi restaurant opening Friday, Sept 6! While our ShoMon team works on developing beautiful Kappo style dishes and creating a refined, upscale experience, our team at Shiro’s is busy sourcing the best fall fish for sushi-loving guests at our sushi bar, in our dining room and for our growing takeout menu and new sushi platter!

We have delicious, artistic dishes forming at both restaurants, and will continue to share more on our Shiro’s Instagram and Facebook pages, as well as our new ShoMon Instagram and Facebook pages.

ShoMon Kappo Sushi

Our team at Shiro’s is proud to introduce our new sister restaurant: ShoMon Kappo Sushi! Opening this Friday, September 6, just blocks away from Shiro’s Sushi in Belltown (and bordering South Lake Union), ShoMon Kappo Sushi will be an inspired kappo sushi restaurant that blends tradition and innovation, infused with the virtues of Japan’s formal and elegant kappo restaurants.

Guests will be presented with a beautifully artistic and thoughtful menu from a collaborative team of chefs with deep expertise in kappo cuisine, including chefs with experience at Michelin starred kappo restaurants in Japan. Led by Chef Masaki, the chef team combines their culilnary talents to showcase a seasonal, multi-course menu that pushes the boundaries of traditional kappo and sushi cuisines with subtle and beautifully blended flavors and textures in a colorful, artful presentation.

The Japanese aesthetic of ShoMon exudes simple elegance with a modern inclination. Guests will be greeted by a traditional Kappo-style L-shaped chefs counter that seats 14 guests and is designed as an opportunity to indulge all the senses — sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste — and appreciate both the process and the artistry involved. Equally immersive is the tranquil dining room for 12 guests with a commissioned, artisan craft Washi paper light installation adorning the wall.

ShoMon will utilize ingredients from Washington’s lands and waters, while enhancing the menu with premium, seasonal ingredients from Japan that are not replicated locally. The result is an immersive experience offering an inspired, multi-course kappo and sushi menu, localized in its ingredients and chef’s expression.

We invite you to join us at ShoMon Kappo Sushi.

Autumn Sushi Platter

While the Summer Sushi Platter featured in-season summer fish, such as Aji (Japanese Horse Mackerel), Karei (Marbled Flat Fish), and Samegrei (Roughscale Sole), we now transition to fall’s seasonal fish for our Autumn Sushi Platter. Our sushi chefs will change up the offering based on what’s best, but be on the lookout for sockeye salmon, Katsuo (Bonito) and Kamasu (Barracuda).

Available through November, the Platter will feature 32 pieces of nigiri sushi (4 pieces each) and 2 kinds of sushi rolls.
