A familiar face behind our sushi counter, and an expert with your omakase! Chef Aaron began training as a sushi chef in 1996 in Hawaii and then found his way to Tokyo in 2008 to deepen his knowledge of the sushi craft! He trained in Tokyo for three years before moving to Seattle to join our team at Shiro’s.

Aaron’s favorite bite of sushi is aji (mackerel) because of its beautiful texture and versatility. He recommends pairing aji with a Japanese lager. When cooking at home, Aaron enjoys making hot pot with his family to help keep them warm in the colder months, and it’s also a fun group activity that involves the entire family. When Aaron isn’t cooking hot pot or preparing sushi, he enjoys playing golf and fishing.
